GOMACO Xtreme Commander IIIx

The Commander III fitted with sensored slew-drive steering and G+ radius software, for extreme-radius curb and gutter work.

The GOMACO Xtreme Commander IIIx is the Commander III fitted with GOMACO’s Xtreme steering package, which turns the best-selling multi-application curb machine into its most intelligent, tightest-turning form. Rotary-sensored slew drives on every track turn to extreme angles, and sensored All-Track Steering and Positioning give G+ the exact position of each track. It comes as a three-track or a four-track build.

G+ controls individual track speed through a curve for smooth travel, and the three-sensor radius system hands steering from the lead wand to a second sensor around a tight bend, so the machine tracks the curve accurately.

The rest of the Commander III strengths carry over. G+ radius software lets the operator program a radius and let the controller manage the track angles and speeds around it. Simultaneous trim and pour keeps concrete yield high, smart-cylinder mold offset gives repeatable positioning, and the trimmerhead and mold adjust vertically on their own. The three-track machine weighs 29,500 lbs. (13,381 kg) and reaches 49.5 fpm (15.2 mpm) paving, with a 17.1 ft. (5.21 m) conveyor feeding the hopper. The IIIx runs on stringline or 3D guidance and transforms into a three-track slipform paver up to 15 ft. (4.57 m) wide.

Benefits

Sensored slew-drive steering

The Xtreme package puts rotary-sensored slew drives on every track, turning to extreme angles. Sensored All-Track Positioning gives G+ a smart cylinder on each leg, so the control system always knows where every track sits and adjusts steering. Getting on and off stringline and around obstacles is quicker than on any earlier Commander III.

Pours the radii others can’t

Extreme steering plus G+ is what lets the IIIx slipform tight radii with ease. G+ controls each track’s speed through the curve for smooth travel, and the three-sensor radius system hands steering from the lead wand to a second sensor around a bend. Radius software lets the operator program it in.

Three-track or four-track, and it transforms

The IIIx comes as a three-track curb and gutter machine or a four-track paver, and the three-track transforms into a slipform paver up to 15 ft. (4.57 m) wide with an undermounted mold. The four-track carries the same sensored slew drives and a left-side telescoping frame to 6 ft. (1.83 m) for wider slab work.

Every Commander III strength carries over

The IIIx keeps what makes the Commander III the best-selling multi-application machine. Simultaneous trim and pour holds concrete yield high, smart-cylinder mold offset repeats exact positioning, a GBox on every leg puts service points at ground level, and the isolated platform keeps the operator comfortable. Owners call it quiet, powerful, and amazing to steer.

Why GOMACO

Concrete paving since 1965

GOMACO has built concrete paving equipment out of Ida Grove, Iowa since 1965 and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The paving line covers widths up to 50 feet (15.2 m) and depths to 19 inches (483 mm), and the same machines run on interstate mainline, airport runways, city streets, and canal work around the world.

G+ Operating System

G+ is proprietary, developed by GOMACO’s own control engineers rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf platform. It uses two-way communication between the machine and its accessories, closed-loop electronic and hydraulic control, and instant digital feedback. It runs in imperial or metric and in every major language.

Family owned from the start

GOMACO is still owned and run by the family that started it. Harold and Gary Godbersen founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company in 1965, and a third generation of the family is in the business today. Roughly 350 people build every machine in Ida Grove, Iowa, across more than 500,000 sq. ft. (46,450 m²) of plant, office and engineering space.
