The GOMACO UHPC Paver is purpose-built for ultra-high performance concrete, the fibre-reinforced mix used for bridge deck overlays, link slabs, and precast connections. It places UHPC from 6 ft. (1.83 m) up to 30 ft. (9.14 m) wide, and it is built heavy to handle the abrasive, aggregate-free mixes that wear ordinary paving equipment down. The G+ control system runs grade and steering from stringline.
The paver rides on four drive bogies with 12 in. (305 mm) of hydraulic leg shift at each end, so the legs move to pave zero-clearance against a barrier or curb. Six vibrator circuits are standard, and a GOMACO work bridge is included for finishing access.
UHPC preserves bridges. A link slab casts over an existing deck joint to seal it, ending the leaks that corrode the girders and bearings below, and an overlay adds a thin, dense, chloride-resistant wearing surface to a deck that would otherwise need replacing. Both extend a bridge’s life for a fraction of the cost of a rebuild, which is why the US Federal Highway Administration has pushed UHPC since 2015. The machine transports under 8.5 ft. (2.6 m) with the mold attached, and an on-board pressure washer keeps a fast-setting mix from curing where it should not.

UHPC carries steel fibres and no coarse aggregate, and it is abrasive enough to wear standard paving equipment. GOMACO built this paver heavy specifically for those mixes. The structure and the wear surfaces are made to take the material that ultra-high performance concrete throws at a machine, pour after pour.
Each end of the machine has 12 in. (305 mm) of hydraulic leg shift, and the legs position where the job needs them. That lets the paver work tight against a barrier wall, a curb, or live traffic on a half-width closure. Bridge preservation happens on structures already in service, where clearance is rarely generous.
UHPC is unforgiving. It is sensitive to temperature and sets on its own schedule, so the machine is built to keep a pour moving and clean. A GOMACO work bridge comes standard for finishing access, and an on-board pressure washer with a 100 gal. (378.5 L) tank clears the fast-setting mix off the equipment before it hardens.
The G+ control system runs grade and steering from stringline, with a 6.5 in. (165 mm) anti-glare display that reads in imperial or metric and every major language. The operator’s display moves to either side of the machine, and the whole paver transports under 8.5 ft. (2.6 m) with the mold still attached.
GOMACO has built concrete paving equipment out of Ida Grove, Iowa since 1965 and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The paving line covers widths up to 50 feet (15.2 m) and depths to 19 inches (483 mm), and the same machines run on interstate mainline, airport runways, city streets, and canal work around the world.
G+ is proprietary, developed by GOMACO’s own control engineers rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf platform. It uses two-way communication between the paver and its accessories, closed-loop electronic and hydraulic control, and instant digital feedback. Contractors moving up from a GP-4000 can carry their existing attachments and sensors straight onto a new GP4.
GOMACO is still owned and run by the family that started it. Harold and Gary Godbersen founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company in 1965, and a third generation of the family is in the business today. Roughly 350 people build every machine in Ida Grove, Iowa, across more than 500,000 sq. ft. (46,450 m²) of plant, office and engineering space.
