The GOMACO Polymer Paver is built for the ultra-thin overlay market, placing polymer and polyester overlays on bridge decks and flat slabs. It paves from 6 ft. (1.83 m) up to 30 ft. (9.14 m) wide, and the all-welded steel frame is sectional with bolted connections so width changes come from adding or removing frame inserts. The G+ control system handles grade and steering.

The base 12 ft. (3.66 m) machine weighs 12,000 lbs. (5,443 kg) both operational and in transport. Frame inserts come in 1.5 ft. (0.46 m), 2 ft. (0.61 m), 3 ft. (0.91 m), 4 ft. (1.22 m), and 5 ft. (1.52 m) widths, and the welded paving pan is sectioned to match.

Power comes from a 74 hp (55.2 kW) Tier 4 Final Caterpillar diesel that needs no diesel exhaust fluid, so there is no DEF to buy, store, or refill on a remote deck. A dual-drive 9 in. (229 mm) auger spreads material ahead of the pan at variable speed to 60 rpm, and the pan itself is vibration-isolated from the main frame so consolidation stays in the overlay and out of the machine. Vibration starts and stops automatically with machine movement. The operator runs it from a magnetically mounted tethered display that mounts wherever the sightline is best.

Built for ultra-thin overlays

The Polymer Paver is purpose-built for polymer and polyester overlays rather than adapted from a slipform machine. The paving pan is welded in sections that match the frame inserts, and it is vibration-isolated from the main frame. Consolidation goes into the thin overlay, and the machine frame stays out of it.

Width changes by the insert

The main frame is all-welded sectional steel with bolted connections. Changing paving width means adding or removing frame inserts in 1.5 ft. (0.46 m), 2 ft. (0.61 m), 3 ft. (0.91 m), 4 ft. (1.22 m), and 5 ft. (1.52 m) sizes, with the paving pan sectioned to match. One machine covers everything from a 6 ft. (1.83 m) walkway to a 30 ft. (9.14 m) deck.

Zero-clearance paving

The legs position independently, so the paver works tight against a barrier wall or curb. On the standard four-bogie setup the rear bogies turn for loading and to pave right up to an obstruction, and the optional crawler tracks each steer independently. Overlay work on existing structures rarely offers room to spare.

No DEF to manage

The 74 hp (55.2 kW) Caterpillar diesel meets Tier 4 Final without diesel exhaust fluid. There is no DEF tank to refill, no fluid to store on a bridge deck, and one less consumable to track on a remote overlay job. Fuel capacity is 35 gal. (132.5 L).

G+ Operating System

G+ is proprietary, developed by GOMACO’s own control engineers rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf platform. It uses two-way communication between the paver and its accessories, closed-loop electronic and hydraulic control, and instant digital feedback. Contractors moving up from a GP-4000 can carry their existing attachments and sensors straight onto a new GP4.

Family owned from the start

GOMACO is still owned and run by the family that started it. Harold and Gary Godbersen founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company in 1965, and a third generation of the family is in the business today. Roughly 350 people build every machine in Ida Grove, Iowa, across more than 500,000 sq. ft. (46,450 m²) of plant, office and engineering space.
