The GOMACO GT-3400 Sidewalk Trimmer is a grade-preparation machine, not a paver. It trims accurate subgrade for narrower-width, zero-clearance flat or monolithic sidewalk and curb and gutter, handling standard and monolithic sidewalk profiles up to 8 ft. (2.4 m) wide. Built on the three-track GT-3400 platform, it is compact enough to fit between the trees, utility poles, and other obstacles that crowd a residential sidewalk lane.
The machine is run by wireless remote, so the operator can move freely around the job site while trimming, and conveyor positioning and folding are controlled from the discharge conveyor. Its three-track design and All-Track Steering make it easy to work between obstacles and load for transport.
Moving the trimmed material off the grade is a two-conveyor job. A 15 ft. (4.6 m) long, 15 in. (381 mm) wide transfer conveyor carries spoil back to a 19 ft. (5.8 m) long, 20 in. (508 mm) wide discharge conveyor that loads it into haul units. The discharge conveyor folds and swings 90 degrees from centre to clear a tree or a pole without stopping the pass, and a hydraulic front gate on the trimmerhead raises to trim through windrowed material or lowers for standard trimming. For transport, the discharge conveyor centres and folds, and the whole machine drives onto a trailer with the trimmerhead attached.

The GT-3400 trimmer does one job well: it prepares accurate subgrade for sidewalk and curb-and-gutter paving. It trims standard and monolithic sidewalk profiles up to 8 ft. (2.4 m) wide, and a hydraulic front gate raises to cut through windrowed material or lowers for a standard trim. Accurate grade is what a good pour depends on.
Built on the three-track GT-3400 platform, the trimmer is compact enough for zero-clearance work in an existing sidewalk lane, threading between trees, poles, and hydrants. Three-track All-Track Steering makes it easy to steer around obstacles, get on and off the stringline, and load for transport, so it works the same tight sites the crew does.
The trimmer moves cut material off the grade and into haul units with two conveyors. A 15 ft. (4.6 m) transfer conveyor feeds a 19 ft. (5.8 m) discharge conveyor, and the discharge conveyor folds and swings 90 degrees from centre to clear a tree or pole mid-pass. The machine keeps trimming while the ground crew manages the material.
An optional sidemounted trimmerhead adapts the machine for narrower scab-on curb and gutter. The 30 in. (762 mm) wide, closed-loop head has 18 in. (457 mm) of hydraulic vertical lift and trims up to 19 in. (483 mm) below existing grade. On its first job it hit accurate grade in about an hour, work that would take a backhoe all day.
GOMACO has built concrete paving equipment out of Ida Grove, Iowa since 1965 and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The paving line covers widths up to 50 feet (15.2 m) and depths to 19 inches (483 mm), and the same machines run on interstate mainline, airport runways, city streets, and canal work around the world.
G+ is proprietary, developed by GOMACO’s own control engineers rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf platform. It uses two-way communication between the paver and its accessories, closed-loop electronic and hydraulic control, and instant digital feedback. Contractors moving up from a GP-4000 can carry their existing attachments and sensors straight onto a new GP4.
GOMACO is still owned and run by the family that started it. Harold and Gary Godbersen founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company in 1965, and a third generation of the family is in the business today. Roughly 350 people build every machine in Ida Grove, Iowa, across more than 500,000 sq. ft. (46,450 m²) of plant, office and engineering space.
