The GOMACO GP4 slipform paver is built for interstate and mainline highway work, airport runways and taxiways, city streets, and concrete overlays. It comes as a two-track or a four-track machine, and both pave up to 40 feet (12.19 m) wide with multiple width changes on the same job. G+ controls interface with stringline, 2D, or 3D machine guidance, so the GP4 works with whatever the project spec calls for.
GP4 highlights include 40 ft. (12.19 m) maximum paving width, 14 ft. (4.27 m) of dual-telescoping frame widening, 16 vibrators across 30 circuits as standard, and operational weights of 80,100 lbs. (36,333 kg) two-track and 108,000 lbs. (48,988 kg) four-track.
The GP4’s smart steering puts rotary-sensored slew drives on all four tracks and on the pivot arms of every leg. G+ reads the pivot arm angle and the track rotation together, holding the tracks on the straight-ahead line even when a leg sits at an angle. Smart cylinders in the roller frame report frame width back to the controller, which uses that figure to set steering geometry and drive individual track speeds through a radius. Extreme steering is possible because the tracks rotate farther than on any previous GOMACO paver.

Smart Cylinders in the GOMACO roller frame report the frame’s exact width back to G+. The dual-telescoping frame moves 7 feet (2.13 m) on each side for 14 feet (4.27 m) of automatic widening, and G+ uses that reading to correct steering and track speed on the fly.
Rotary-sensored slew drives sit on all four tracks and on each leg’s pivot arm. G+ combines pivot angle with track rotation to keep the tracks running straight-ahead even at an angled leg position, then automatically controls the direction and speed of every individual track as the paver works through a radius.
A 6.5 inch (165 mm) anti-glare display runs sensor-controlled backlighting for readability in any light, in imperial or metric and in every major language. The run screen carries leg position, paving speed, steering, grade, and deviation meters. Fault history is time-stamped, so troubleshooting starts with a record instead of a guess.
One operator can put the GP4 into transport without help. Rotating the legs to the transport position and switching G+ travel to Transport does most of it, and a retractable sliding console brings the shipping width down further. Four-track minimum transport width is 9.5 feet (2.9 m).
GOMACO has built concrete paving equipment out of Ida Grove, Iowa since 1965 and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The paving line covers widths up to 50 feet (15.2 m) and depths to 19 inches (483 mm), and the same machines run on interstate mainline, airport runways, city streets, and canal work around the world.
G+ is proprietary, developed by GOMACO’s own control engineers rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf platform. It uses two-way communication between the paver and its accessories, closed-loop electronic and hydraulic control, and instant digital feedback. Contractors moving up from a GP-4000 can carry their existing attachments and sensors straight onto a new GP4.
GOMACO is still owned and run by the family that started it. Harold and Gary Godbersen founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company in 1965, and a third generation of the family is in the business today. Roughly 350 people build every machine in Ida Grove, Iowa, across more than 500,000 sq. ft. (46,450 m²) of plant, office and engineering space.
