The GOMACO GP-4000 is a large mainline slipform paver, built for high-production highway, interstate, and airport work. It slipforms mainline and airport widths from 12 ft. (3.66 m) up to 50 ft. (15.24 m) in a single pass, as a two-track or four-track machine, with vibrator packages that scale from 16 to 48 circuits as widths grow. G+ controls interface with stringline or 3D machine guidance.
The GP-4000 is a heavy machine on purpose. The four-track version weighs 115,000 lbs. (52,164 kg) at a 24 ft. (7.32 m) width, and contractors choose it for exactly that mass, which holds a slab flat and meets tight rideability specs over a long project.
Dowel-bar placement is a signature strength. GOMACO’s patented IDBI (Independent Dowel Bar Inserter) runs on both two-track and four-track GP-4000s and places transverse dowels fully automatically. On one California interstate the machine set roughly 335,000 dowel bars across the job while meeting ride specs, and it has paved everything from a 100 mi. (161 km) Texas toll road to runways worldwide. GOMACO’s patented two-layer mold adds another capability, letting the GP-4000 place two concrete layers in a single mold rather than running a second machine, and the modular frame telescopes 3.5 ft. (1.07 m) on the left side for width changes.

The IDBI is self-contained and among the most accurate systems on the market.
Two layers in a single mold
GOMACO’s patented two-layer paving mold lets the GP-4000 place two concrete layers in one mold, instead of running a second paver for the second lift. A two-layer project in the Czech Republic ran 35 ft. (10.7 m) to 40 ft. (12.2 m) wide at a 12 in. (305 mm) total slab, spread by auger and consolidated with vibrators and tamper bar.

Concrete paving since 1965
GOMACO has built concrete paving equipment out of Ida Grove, Iowa since 1965 and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The paving line covers widths up to 50 feet (15.2 m) and depths to 19 inches (483 mm), and the same machines run on interstate mainline, airport runways, city streets, and canal work around the world.
G+ Operating System
G+ is proprietary, developed by GOMACO’s own control engineers rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf platform. It uses two-way communication between the paver and its accessories, closed-loop electronic and hydraulic control, and instant digital feedback. Contractors moving up from a GP-4000 can carry their existing attachments and sensors straight onto a new GP4.
Family owned from the start
GOMACO is still owned and run by the family that started it. Harold and Gary Godbersen founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company in 1965, and a third generation of the family is in the business today. Roughly 350 people build every machine in Ida Grove, Iowa, across more than 500,000 sq. ft. (46,450 m²) of plant, office and engineering space.
