GOMACO Four-Track Commander III

The best-selling multi-purpose slipform paver of all time, for curb and gutter, barrier, sidewalk, parapet, and slab work.

The GOMACO Commander III is the best-selling multi-purpose slipform machine of all time, and the four-track configuration is its most versatile form. One machine slipforms monolithic sidewalk, curb and gutter, barrier, slotted drain, roll-over curb, parapet, and slab paving, with the mold being what changes between profiles. It has won Roads & Bridges magazine’s Contractor’s Choice Award for both slipform paving and curb and gutter every year since 2007.

G+ controls run the machine from stringline, 2D, or 3D guidance, with independent hydraulic travel to each track so the system controls individual track speed through a radius. Push-button smart cylinders set the track steering parameters.

Steering and positioning are built for tight, awkward sites. All-Track Steering sets the machine to line quickly and eases job-site mobility and loading, while All-Track Positioning moves the tracks to work around obstacles and site logistics. A GBox on every leg keeps sensors, valve overrides, and service points at ground level. On the four-track machine the tracks turn to a transverse position for barrier and parapet work, and optional 6 in. (150 mm) high-rise tracks let the Commander III slipform in minimum clearance, such as a tunnel floor 14.7 ft. (4.5 m) wide over continuous reinforcing steel.

Benefits

The most versatile machine GOMACO builds

The Commander III is the best-selling multi-purpose machine GOMACO has made, and the four-track earns that title daily. Change the mold and the same machine slipforms monolithic sidewalk, curb and gutter, tall barrier, parapet, slotted drain, and slab. It has won the Roads & Bridges Contractor’s Choice Award every year since 2007.

Tall barrier and parapet

With the four-track barrier package, the Commander III slipforms barrier and parapet wall, including variable-height barrier and wall up to 7 ft. (2.13 m) tall over continuous steel fed into the mold. The tracks rotate to a transverse position for barrier work, and an under-mounted package can imprint a stone pattern into the extruded wall.

Steering built for tight sites

All-Track Steering sets the machine to line quickly and speeds job-site mobility, and All-Track Positioning moves the tracks to clear obstacles and site logistics. Optional 6 in. (150 mm) high-rise tracks shrink the footprint for minimum-clearance work, and the machine has slipformed a tunnel floor 14.7 ft. (4.5 m) wide over continuous reinforcing steel.

Fast width changes and dowel placement

The optional V2 dual mold makes width changes fast, including on-the-go changes for tapered slabs, with separate control for the left and right sides. For paving work, the IDBI attachment adds fully automated dowel-bar insertion behind the machine in pavements up to 16 ft. (4.88 m) wide, self-contained and self-powered on its own engine.

Why GOMACO

Concrete paving since 1965

GOMACO has built concrete paving equipment out of Ida Grove, Iowa since 1965 and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The paving line covers widths up to 50 feet (15.2 m) and depths to 19 inches (483 mm), and the same machines run on interstate mainline, airport runways, city streets, and canal work around the world.

G+ Operating System

G+ is proprietary, developed by GOMACO’s own control engineers rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf platform. It uses two-way communication between the paver and its accessories, closed-loop electronic and hydraulic control, and instant digital feedback. Contractors moving up from a GP-4000 can carry their existing attachments and sensors straight onto a new GP4.

Family owned from the start

GOMACO is still owned and run by the family that started it. Harold and Gary Godbersen founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company in 1965, and a third generation of the family is in the business today. Roughly 350 people build every machine in Ida Grove, Iowa, across more than 500,000 sq. ft. (46,450 m²) of plant, office and engineering space.
